3 UK Offers Smartphone Addiction Training for Adults

3 UK offers a training program designed to help adults combat smartphone addiction. Curious about how it works?
3 UK Launches Initiative to Help Adults Manage Screen Time
The British telecom operator, 3 UK, recently introduced a national initiative aimed at helping adults manage their screen time effectively. This move was spurred by a revealing survey in which 58% of the 2,006 participants admitted struggling to limit their smartphone use.
User Concerns Highlighted
A survey conducted by Censuswide highlighted further alarming concerns. 33% of participants expressed worries about the lack of support in managing their relationship with their phones, while 32% confessed to the difficulty in stopping “doom-scrolling,” or the consumption of negative content. Additionally, 53% reported being distracted by their phones during conversations.
3 UK’s Proposed Solutions
In response to these concerns, 3 UK has taken action by training 2,300 employees across 297 stores to offer clients tips on mindful smartphone use. These training sessions, developed in consultation with renowned neuroscientist Jack Lewis, aim to:
- Provide popular tips for maintaining healthy smartphone habits
- Use screen time management tools
- Activate airplane mode or turn off devices
- Keep smartphones out of sight and rearrange home screen apps
Measures for Beneficial Device Use
“For too long, we’ve almost exclusively focused on children’s mobile device usage. It’s time now to arm adults with the necessary resources and support they need to control their screen time to ensure it’s positive and beneficial,” commented neuroscientist Jack Lewis.
Elaine Carey, Chief Commercial Officer at 3 UK, added that the new measures are “designed to ensure customers use their devices in ways that truly benefit them, empowering them to make the most of their digital experience.”
The program is available for booking through 3’s Discovery site, with online training also offered.
