68% of Global iPhones Now Run on iOS 18, Apple Reports

Apple reports that nearly 68% of iPhones globally now run on iOS 18, highlighting the swift and widespread adoption of their latest operating system.
Adoption of iOS 18: Steady Yet Modest Growth
Apple has recently shared the adoption rates for its iOS 18 operating system, noting a slight increase from last year. 68% of all iPhones now run this version, up from 66% for iOS 17 at the same time last year.
Stable Adoption Across Recent Models
Focusing on the last four years’ models, the adoption rate stands at 76%, mirroring last year’s figures for iOS 17. This highlights a consistent updating trend among iPhone users.
iPadOS 18 Follows Similar Pattern
The adoption figures for iPads also show a slight increase. Apple reports that 53% of all tablets now use iPadOS 18, compared to 52% for iPadOS 17 last year. For models from the past four years, the rate rises to 63%, a 2% increase from the previous year.
AI Enabled by Default in Upcoming Update
Finally, Apple is pushing for greater adoption of its Artificial Intelligence features. In the latest iOS 18.3 beta version, these features are enabled by default at device setup. Users will need to opt out manually in settings if desired, a significant shift from earlier versions where explicit consent was required for activation.
