Major Update Coming to YouTube App for Millions of Users – Find Out How

Millions of users are about to experience a major update on the YouTube app.
YouTube for Android Debuts Redesigned User Interface
YouTube, a top contender in mobile streaming apps, is always evolving. A report by Mishaal Rahman from 9to5 Google reveals that Google is testing a new user interface (UI) for its Android app, mirroring the current Smart TV interface.
Key Changes
The refreshed interface introduces several changes. The video title has moved above the progress bar, while the channel icon and subscriber count are now next to the channel name. Additionally, view counts and upload dates are positioned below. Notably, the forward and backward buttons have been removed in fullscreen mode during playback, appearing only when the video is paused.
Mixed Reactions to the Changes
The modifications have evoked varied responses from testers. Users named DefinitionIcy4835 and Lumpy-Firefighter155 voiced their dissatisfaction on Reddit. Other adjustments include relocating the engagement buttons (like, dislike, comment, and share) above the progress bar on the right side, with like/dislike counts under the icons.
Ongoing Improvements on YouTube
Beyond visual tweaks, a recent server-side update now allows users to swipe videos up or down to reorder them in a playlist. Videos can also be minimized by dragging them downwards. YouTube has introduced several updates in recent months, including new ads that appear when videos are paused. For an optimal viewing experience, subscribing to YouTube Premium is recommended to avoid ad overload.
