Massive Pokémon Leak Reveals Unprecedented Details on Switch 2

Details about the new Switch 2 have been disclosed through a significant Pokémon leak.
Unprecedented Cyberattack Hits Game Freak
Game Freak, the creator of the iconic Pokémon franchise, has fallen victim to an unprecedented cyberattack. Confidential data regarding unannounced projects, unreleased Pokémon, and details on the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, the successor to Nintendo’s popular hybrid console, were stolen.
Gigabytes of Information Stolen
Earlier this week, Game Freak confirmed a data breach in August 2024, after an unauthorized third party accessed a company server. Details of this leak, which include gigabytes of information, are just beginning to surface on social media.
Unannounced Pokémon Projects Revealed
Initial reports from Nintendo Life reveal the leak includes a 10th generation Pokémon game codenamed “Gaia,” set to release in two versions, “K” and “N.” These games are currently being tested on the existing Switch, suggesting a multi-platform release.
The leak also unveils a Pokémon spin-off game named “Synapse,” and contains the source code for the DS games Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, as well as Black 2 and White 2, among other details about Game Freak’s projects.
Details on the Nintendo Switch 2 Revealed
Nintendo, the renowned creator of Mario, has been tight-lipped about its Switch successor. However, after months of speculation, Nintendo President Shunatro Furukawa announced last May that the Nintendo Switch 2, still tentatively named, would be unveiled by the end of the current fiscal year in March. Further rumors suggest the release date might be pushed to April, depending on Nintendo’s financial results for the fiscal year.
All signs indicate that spring will be when we finally see if the Switch 2 will claim its place among the top portable gaming consoles. In the meantime, stay tuned for all the latest leaks on the Switch 2.
