A Technological Reinterpretation of the N64
The Analogue 3D, a true “reinvention of the N64,” can upscale Nintendo 64 games to 4K resolution through HDMI, which is “10 times the resolution of the original N64.”
With an FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) circuit, the Analogue 3D plays your N64 cartridges natively, without emulation. This means, according to its creators, “no incompatibilities found in software emulation such as input lag, graphical/sound inaccuracies, timing/frame rate issues, and more.”
To recreate the original experience, the Analogue 3D offers “original display modes” that mimic CRT screens, but in 4K.
The Details that Make a Difference
The Analogue 3D features four ports for original-style controllers, as well as Bluetooth LE support for wireless controllers, and dual-band Wi-Fi capability.
In collaboration with 8BitDo, Analogue has developed a new 8BitDo 64 Controller. This Bluetooth gamepad replicates the classic D-Pad, C, A/B buttons, and joystick in the same size and layout as the original N64 controller but has been updated with a Hall effect joystick to eliminate stick drift and a more ergonomic button layout.
The Analogue 3D will be available for pre-order starting Monday, October 21 at 8 AM Pacific Time, with delivery expected in the first quarter of 2025. Fans should hurry to secure this console, considering the popularity of the Analogue Pocket, which was hard to obtain for years after its release.
