SK Telecom Unveils Revolutionary AI Personal Assistant “Aster(A*)” at SK AI Summit 2024

On the second day of the SK AI Summit 2024, SK Telecom unveiled Aster (A*), a groundbreaking AI-based personal assistant. Designed as an "agentive AI," Aster interprets user intentions to set goals and complete tasks, potentially offering new opportunities to global users.
Introducing Aster: SK Telecom’s New AI Assistant
Following much anticipation, SK Telecom has unveiled its AI-powered personal assistant, “Aster (A*)”, at the SK AI Summit 2024. This innovation aims to become an integral daily companion for its users.
Aster: A Future-Oriented AI
Unlike its predecessors, Aster introduces an “agentive AI” approach. Beyond answering simple queries or performing search tasks, Aster strives to understand user intentions to deliver more precise responses. SK Telecom intends to create a novel experience with concepts like “Planning Made Easy”, “Never Drop the Ball”, and “Timely Answer”.
The goal is to enhance their extended language model (LLM) and agent platforms to provide personalized information that helps users plan and execute tasks based on their identified intentions.
Testing to Enhance: SK Telecom’s Strategy
To build trust and engagement, SK Telecom has announced a closed beta launch in the United States later this year, with a full rollout planned for the following year.
“For instance, Aster commits to assisting clients in planning a party dinner by asking relevant questions to clarify needs,” says SK Telecom. The system is designed to anticipate task stages and can even connect users with purchasing services.
New Partnerships to Boost Aster’s Capabilities
Finally, according to Chung Suk-geun, head of global AI technology at SK Telecom, the company plans to enhance Aster’s abilities through strategic partnerships with global research providers and third-party app developers. With its unparalleled added value, Aster is set to revolutionize the realm of AI-based personal assistants.
