Artinoise is revolutionizing mobile music with Zefiro, a unique device that turns smartphones into musical instruments, providing users with creativity, sharing capabilities, and MIDI control for an immersive musical experience.

Artinoise Revolutionizes Music with Zefiro

Italian company Artinoise, renowned for its musical innovations, is breaking into the smartphone market with Zefiro. This unique device connects via USB-C and turns your smartphone into a playable musical instrument.

A Pocket-Sized Instrument

At first glance, Zefiro might look like a kazoo or a USB stick. However, by blowing into the unattached end, it functions as a multi-instrument simulator. Pair it with the Zefiro app, which converts your breath into sounds of various instruments. Available on iOS and Android, the app also allows you to customize button positions and sensitivity for playing notes on the screen. Additionally, it features options to record and share your creations, including backing tracks.

Zefiro on Kickstarter

Artinoise recently initiated a Kickstarter campaign for Zefiro, aiming for a modest $5,322. At the time of this writing, with 30 days left in the campaign, the company has already far exceeded its goal, amassing over $20,000 in pledges.

A Versatile Tool

Beyond serving as a smart reed, Zefiro doubles as a MIDI breath controller. This means it can trigger samples, control virtual instruments, and even integrate into both home and professional recording studios. It offers real-time editing capabilities, allowing the addition of sound effects during performances.

If interested, you can support the Zefiro project for around 22 euros. Artinoise anticipates the retail price will be nearly double at about 42 euros. A “Pro” model with an added accelerometer is also available for approximately 39 euros.

Zefiro is not Artinoise’s first foray into digital instruments. Previously, the company launched Re.Corder, a modernized version of the recorder. The company expects to begin deliveries in February 2025.
