iPhone 17 Air: Could Be the Thinnest Ever – Here’s What We Know

The iPhone 17 Air is set to possibly be the thinnest yet at 6 mm, featuring an innovative OLED screen. However, its high price might deter some potential buyers.
The iPhone 17 Air: A Revolution in Sleekness?
Rumors suggest that Apple may set a new thinness record with its upcoming iPhone 17 Air, also known as the iPhone 17 Slim. The big question remains: how thin will this new device be?
Record Thinness?
A recent leak indicates that the iPhone 17 Air might struggle to be thinner than the iPhone 6 due to battery development costs for a thinner substrate. However, contradicting this, a research note from Haitong, a Hong Kong-based investment bank obtained by MacRumors, suggests that Apple analyst Jeff Pu predicts the phone will be about 6mm thick. For context, “the iPhone 6 is 6.9mm thick while the iPhone 15 is 7.8mm,” he notes.
What About Other Features?
Beyond its sleekness, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to feature a new 6.6-inch OLED screen with “touch and display integration” technology, a 48MP rear camera, a 24MP front camera, and a frame made of aluminum. Additionally, it seems to boast 8GB of RAM and the A19 chip, unlocking Apple Intelligence.
A Potentially Prohibitive Cost?
While the iPhone 17 Air appears promising, its cost remains a concern. If priced too high, limited camera options might deter some users. We will have to wait for the official announcement, expected around September 2025, to see the final product.
