Recent rumors suggest that the 2025 iPad Pro may be Apple's first device to feature the revolutionary M5 chip.

The Future of iPad Pro: the M5 Processor

A new era is on the horizon for Apple’s tablets. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has indicated that the iPad Pro with the M5 processor won’t go into production until the second half of 2025. This suggests that the new iPad won’t appear until late 2025 or early 2026.

A Delayed Launch for the M5

This launch schedule represents a significant delay for Apple, as the iPad Pro M4 was released in April of this year. However, the delay is not entirely unexpected. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman had hinted at a similar timeline last October during the release of the new iMac, Mac Mini, and MacBook Pro, all powered by the M4 chip.

The M5, a Revolutionary Processor?

Details on the M5 are scarce, but rumors suggest that it might be Apple’s first 2nm processor, potentially more powerful and with more transistors than the 3nm M4 system-on-chip.

A Return to the 18-Month Cycle for Apple?

While the M4 was launched somewhat hastily, previous chips followed an 18-month cycle. The delay in the M5’s release could indicate a return to this pattern.

As for next year’s iPad Pro, there are few rumors, except that it’s unlikely to undergo significant design changes. Indeed, “Apple might stick to the status quo for a few more iterations”, especially after this year’s model became thinner, lighter, and included a repositioned camera.
