iOS 18.2 Unveils Track Overlay Feature in Voice Memos

The secret update of iOS 18.2 has added a multi-track overlay feature to the Voice Memos app, which has been positively received by renowned singer Michael Bublé.
A Musical Revolution on iPhone
Music enthusiasts and content creators will be thrilled to learn that Voice Memos on iOS 18.2 is set to revolutionize music creation on the iPhone. A new feature now allows users to record their compositions in a more sophisticated and convenient manner.
From Simplicity to Sophistication
While the iPhone’s Voice Memo function has been known for its simplicity, it traditionally supported only a single track, complicating the creation of layered vocals and post-production adjustments. With the launch of iOS 18.2, Apple has enhanced this tool to better serve creative projects on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Multi-Track Recording Without Headphones
iPhone 16 users can now layer a vocal track over an instrumental one using the Voice Memo app, all without needing headphones. To showcase this feature, Apple collaborated with artists Michael Bublé, Carly Pearce, and Greg Wells, who explained how they used it to record the vocals for their latest track, “Maybe This Is Christmas”.
A Limited Feature
However, it’s important to note that this feature is currently exclusive to the iPhone 16. Editing files requires Logic Pro for Mac 11.1 with macOS Sequoia 15.2 or Logic Pro for iPad 2.1 with iPadOS 18.2.
Additionally, iOS 18.2 also offers other features for those not specifically interested in musical recording, such as using Genmoji to quickly create new emojis in conversations or accessing the Intelligent Vision functionality via the new camera control button for iPhone 16 users.
