Apple Maps' "Look Around" feature, offering immersive visual exploration, is now directly accessible from your web browser.

Apple Maps Unveils Its Answer to Google Street View

Virtual navigation enthusiasts now have a new tool at their fingertips. Apple recently introduced the Look Around feature in the beta version of Apple Maps on the web, positioning it as a rival to Google Street View. According to 9to5Mac, this feature allows users to virtually browse and explore cities included in the service.

How to Use Look Around?

To start your virtual journey, simply click on the binoculars icon located in the lower left corner of the map. Similar to Street View, Look Around enables you to “fly” virtually over roads and swipe the screen to reveal more of the area you are exploring, with 360-degree imagery.

Beta Launch of the Feature

Apple launched the beta version of Maps for the web last July, with several limitations. Access was restricted to certain devices and browsers, and although it was already possible to search for directions and guides, the Look Around feature was not yet available. However, Apple has committed to adding more features in the coming months.

Expanding Coverage

The coverage of Look Around is currently quite limited. However, MacRumors has previously reported finding evidence in Apple Maps that the company is working to expand its availability. Apple plans to add more small cities and rural areas to its Look Around network, as well as additional countries like Egypt, China, and Mexico.

Keep an eye out for new features in your Maps app and get ready for a 360-degree virtual exploration of your next dream destination.
