Google Pixel 10: A Bold Concept Video Emerges

While Samsung and OnePlus are set to unveil their latest Android flagships next month, Google typically refreshes its smartphone lineup in the fall. This suggests that the Pixel 10 is likely still about ten months away from being unveiled. Nevertheless, YouTube design channel 4RMD has created a daring concept video for the Pro version of the handset.

Vertical Camera Design?

Instead of the usual horizontal camera visor seen on Google smartphones since the Pixel 6, 4RMD envisions a vertical layout: a thick column covering the upper half of the phone. While intriguing and stylish, further reflection reveals this design could be impractical in real-world use.

Design Challenges

A vertical camera bar could dig into the palm during use, and the phone might struggle to remain stable when laid on flat surfaces. This design could also complicate wireless charging.

What About Other Features?

Despite the camera bar’s questionable placement, 4RMD also imagines an increase in screen size, with 6.4 and 6.9-inch models, slimmer bezels, a smaller punch-hole camera, and a larger 5300 mAh battery. They also predict a trio of 64MP camera lenses featuring “low-light enhancements” and up to 50x zoom.

While these features are speculative, the video accurately forecasts the use of the Tensor G5 processor, anticipated to be built using a 3nm process—a prediction made previously.

It’s still early days for Pixel 10 rumors, but there are improvements we hope to see. Speed is a major one: despite often ranking among the best phones you can buy, Pixel’s Tensor processors generally lag behind Qualcomm and Apple chips in raw performance. We’re eager to see if Google can close this gap by 2025.
