A potentially life-saving feature has been unveiled in a leak about the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, showcasing a pinnacle of technological innovation that could one day save your life.

A Major Innovation for the Galaxy S25 Ultra

Electronics giant Samsung, known for its cutting-edge smartphones, is poised to introduce a feature long available on its competitors’ devices. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra may soon include automobile crash detection capabilities.

Crash Detection: A Latent Ability

Leaked firmware files suggest that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be equipped with an automobile crash detection sensor. Interestingly, this appears to be the same composite sensor found in the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Fold 5, indicating that these models could also support the feature with a software update.

The sensor in question is a virtual one that synthesizes data from various physical sensors. This means Samsung can leverage existing components like the accelerometer or gyroscope, without needing additional space for new sensors.

There are hints that Samsung has been developing this feature since the release of One UI 5.1.1 in July 2023. This might explain why older phones include the sensor, though it does not clarify why the crash detection feature isn’t already operational. It’s possible that Samsung is facing challenges in implementation but is preparing for a potential breakthrough.

Significant Improvements Expected

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to undergo major changes. Leaks suggest a redesigned look with rounded corners, similar to the iPhone 16 or Pixel 9, and a larger 6.9-inch display.

The S25 series might also feature Qi2 magnetic wireless charging, a technology currently limited to iPhones and the mid-range HMD Skyline. This would not only mean faster wireless charging speeds but also compatibility with MagSafe accessories for Samsung users.

In terms of photography, the ultra-wide lens might be upgraded from 12MP on the S24 Ultra to 50MP. Additionally, there’s talk of a “variable” telephoto lens capable of switching between two different focal lengths, with rumors suggesting a 4-5x and 6-7x optical zoom in a single camera lens.

Finally, new AI features are expected on the Galaxy S25 Ultra and One UI 7. We’ll have to wait until Galaxy Unpacked to learn more. In the meantime, keep an eye on our latest news and updates.
