At CES 2025, NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel showcased their latest technological advancements, committing to maximum power and promising to push the boundaries of computer performance.

The Race for Performance at CES 2025

The CES 2025 expo was highlighted by a fierce competition in the chip industry. Sector giants NVIDIA, Intel, and AMD showcased their latest innovations, all aimed at boosting performance.

NVIDIA: Power and Energy

The RTX 5090 from NVIDIA, despite its high energy consumption, dazzled with its performance. During a 4K demo of Cyberpunk 2077 with full ray tracing, the RTX 5090 achieved 240 frames per second, more than double that of its predecessor, the RTX 4090. However, this performance sparked debates as some players questioned the integrity of the images generated by NVIDIA’s AI.

AMD and Intel: Serious Challengers

AMD also made waves with its Ryzen AI Max chips designed for mobile workstations. These chips combine a powerful graphics card and a large amount of integrated memory, delivering 3D rendering performance 2.6 times superior to Intel’s Core Ultra 9 288V chip.

Meanwhile, Intel introduced its Core Ultra 200HX chips, marking the entry of the Arrow Lake series into the gaming and high-performance arena. These chips can reach up to 24 cores and speeds of 5.5 GHz, although their performance in neural processing units is diminished compared to Intel’s previous AI PC chips.

A Future Focused on Performance

It is evident that the industry is shifting towards increasingly powerful chip designs, at the expense of energy efficiency. This trend appears set to continue, with consumers increasingly demanding ever more impressive graphical performance.
