Nintendo Switch 2 to Feature New Mario 3D and Zelda Remake

Rumors suggest the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 may feature a brand-new 3D Mario game and a revamped version of the legendary Zelda game.
The Mysterious Nintendo Switch 2 Finally Revealed
After months of anticipation, Nintendo has finally unveiled the Switch 2, though it left several mysteries unsolved. What does the “C” button do? Are the Joy-Cons actually a mouse? What games will be available on this new handheld console?
Upcoming Games: Certainties and Speculations
Regarding games, we already know that a new version of Mario Kart, supporting up to 24 players, will be available. Detailed analysis of screenshots even suggests that players might need to scavenge for fuel during races.
Based on a Nintendo eShop gift card offer from tech retailer Newegg, other games might also be expected this year. These include Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition.
Vanishing Rumors
Oddly, mentions of a “new Mario Kart,” a “new Mario 3D,” and a “remake/remaster of Legend of Zelda” have been removed from the listing. Was this Nintendo’s doing, or did Newegg realize their mistake too late? It’s unclear.
These games wouldn’t be surprising, as a Nintendo console wouldn’t be complete without a new 3D Mario platformer. The launch of Super Mario Odyssey with the original Switch remains one of the best Mario games for the console to date.
A New Zelda on the Horizon?
A new Zelda game wouldn’t be surprising either. However, a remake or remaster would be more unexpected. The last Zelda remake was the beautiful Switch version of Link’s Awakening in 2019. A remastered version of Breath of the Wild to leverage the more powerful technology of the Switch 2 would indeed be impressive.
If we were to speculate, perhaps someone at Newegg simply assumed these titles would arrive on the Switch 2 at some point this year. But of course, that’s just speculation.
