GoPro has upgraded its entry-level Hero camera with a new update that introduces a 4:3 video feature, perfect for creating social media clips.

GoPro Hero Gets Exciting Software Update

Leading action camera manufacturer GoPro has released a significant software update for its entry-level Hero camera. This update introduces the ability to record in 4:3 aspect ratio at 4K quality, an ideal format for sharing videos on social media platforms like TikTok, where vertical videos dominate.

Social Media-Focused Update

Targeted at social media content creators, the new 4:3 format is also perfect for first-person perspective videos. For those who favor a more traditional look, GoPro confirms that videos in 4:3 can be seamlessly cropped to 16:9 for a cinematic widescreen effect.

Innovative Conversion Tool

Alongside this update, the GoPro Quik app, available on iOS and Android, now features the SuperView Digital Lens option. This tool enhances the process of converting 4:3 videos to 16:9, making the footage feel “faster, more immersive, and more exciting.” Previously, this feature was exclusive to the brand’s higher-end models.

Affordable and Lightweight Camera

For budget-conscious consumers, the compact yet powerful GoPro Hero is currently priced at just 199 euros. Weighing in at only 86 grams, it is described by the company as the “smallest, lightest, and most wide-angle GoPro ever created.”
