Last-Minute Name Change for iPhone 4 SE Before Launch

Before its release, there are indications that the iPhone 4 SE may undergo a name change.
A New iPhone on the Horizon
Excitement is building at Apple as the company is rumored to unveil the new iPhone SE 4 this week, sparked by a cryptic message from Tim Cook on the X platform.
Potential Rebranding of the SE Series
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg’s Power On newsletter has floated an interesting possibility. He interprets Cook’s reference to a “new family member” as a hint that Apple might rename the iPhone SE, which first launched in 2016. “This could mean the iPhone SE will be rebranded, possibly as iPhone 16E,” Gurman suggests, though not explicitly stated.
Major Upgrades Expected
Rebranding isn’t the only change on the horizon. Gurman also mentions significant hardware improvements. The iPhone SE 4 is expected to share the same processor as the iPhone 16 and boast 8 GB of RAM, supporting Apple Intelligence.
Leaked mockups indicate that the iPhone SE 4 will closely resemble the iPhone 14, with rumors also pointing to a screen size increase to 6.1 inches, a major step up from the 4.7 inches of the 2022 iPhone SE.
Pricing for the iPhone SE 4?
The big question remains the pricing of the new iPhone SE 4. Despite the impressive upgrades, the SE series is known for being Apple’s more affordable range. The company may face a pricing dilemma due to the numerous enhancements.
While nothing is certain yet, it appears we may only have a few days left to wait for confirmation. If the rumors hold true, the iPhone SE 4 could emerge as one of the best budget smartphones of 2025, or even one of the best overall.
