Roblox Now Faster on Chromebooks

Roblox on Chromebook Gets a Speed Boost

In a seemingly perfect partnership, the online gaming platform Roblox has been significantly sped up on Chromebooks. Google announced on Thursday that a new x86 version of Roblox is twice as fast as the previously available Android version on ChromeOS.

A Perfect Match for Users

The combination of Chromebooks, favored in the education sector, and Roblox, popular among children, appears to be an ideal match. Although more Chromebooks are now based on ARM architecture, the majority still use the x86 architecture.

Google states that this new Roblox setup provides a smoother gameplay experience with faster loading times, enhancing the overall Roblox experience. Specifically, users will see a 99% increase in refresh rates in the virtual pet game Adopt Me! and a 67% improvement in the role-playing simulator Brookhaven RP. Loading times have been reduced by up to 29% from startup to login screen.

Special Bonuses for Chromebook Users

Beyond launching the x86 version, Google and Roblox are offering special in-game bonuses for Chromebook users. For instance, you can acquire a Chrome-logo jetpack to make your avatar soar like a Google-sponsored Buzz Lightyear. Additionally, a “reaction board” is available for quicker ground movement. These bonuses can be found on Google’s perks page.

This collaboration between Google and Roblox is not their first. Last year, they jointly developed an educational game to teach children online safety, curiously named Be Internet Awesome World.

Installation via the Play Store

Google told Engadget that the x86 version of Roblox can be installed directly via the Play Store. While this store is typically where the Android version is found, it should automatically provide the correct setup for your laptop.
