Trump Halts Military Aid to Ukraine

Amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Donald Trump has controversially decided to temporarily suspend the military aid that the United States had been providing to Kiev.
A Controversial Suspension
On March 3, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump implemented a previously threatened “pause” in U.S. military aid to Ukraine.
This decision followed a heated exchange with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House. An anonymous White House source stated that the pause is intended to reassess whether U.S. aid is effectively contributing to resolving the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
Accusations of Non-cooperation
Trump voiced his dissatisfaction with Zelensky, accusing him of being reluctant to pursue peace with Russia. He suggested that the Ukrainian President should be more “grateful” for U.S. support.
Vice President JD Vance echoed these sentiments on Fox News, accusing Zelensky of a “clear refusal to engage in the peace process” sought by Trump.
Retaliatory Tariffs
Trump also imposed tariffs on imports from the U.S.’s top three trading partners: Canada, Mexico, and China, citing their lack of action in curbing fentanyl trafficking to the U.S. Imports from Canada and Mexico will now face tariffs of 25% (with a 10% tariff on Canadian hydrocarbons).
Trump’s foreign policy moves, from suspending military aid to Ukraine to introducing new trade tariffs, continue to send ripples worldwide. The outcomes of these actions are yet to be determined.
