Massive Drone Attack on Moscow Ahead of Ukraine Peace Talks

Right before peace talks began, Moscow, at the epicenter of the Ukraine war, faced an unprecedented drone attack.
Drone Attack in Russia
A significant drone strike rocked Moscow on the night of March 10 to 11, 2025. Dozens of Ukrainian drones targeted the Russian capital and other areas, resulting in one casualty. This assault occurred just hours before crucial talks between Ukrainian and American representatives in Saudi Arabia.
Air Defense in Action
Russia’s air defense forces, led by the Ministry of Defense, swiftly responded. Moscow’s Mayor, Sergey Sobyanin, reported that 69 drones were intercepted over the capital and its surrounding region.
Additionally, emergency services were mobilized to handle falling debris. In total, Russian forces shot down 337 Ukrainian drones, including 91 in the Moscow region.
Russian Regions Affected
Beyond Moscow, other Russian areas also experienced drone strikes. The governor of the Moscow region, Andrey Vorobyov, reported one fatality and three injuries. Drone attacks also occurred in the Belgorod region, bordering Ukraine, which resulted in no casualties. Furthermore, a drone was neutralized in the Vladimir region east of Moscow.
Crucial Talks Ahead
Amid these incidents, a pivotal meeting is scheduled in Saudi Arabia between Ukrainian and American officials. Ukraine will present a plan for a partial ceasefire with Russia.
This meeting in Jeddah will be the first of its kind since Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to the White House in late February.
