Everything We Know About Apple’s Upcoming iPhone 17 Pro, Max, and Air

Let's explore everything we know about Apple's latest smartphones: the iPhone 17 Pro, the Max, and the Air, which are set to once again revolutionize the mobile tech world.
Apple Sets the Stage for iPhone 17
Every fall, Apple captivates the tech world with the unveiling of its latest smartphone series. This year, the spotlight is ready to shine on the iPhone 17, which is already sparking widespread speculation.
When Will the iPhone 17 Be Revealed?
Apple traditionally showcases its flagship devices in September. While it’s too early for a specific date, past launches suggest that the iPhone 17 models are likely to debut around that time.
What Can We Expect from the iPhone 17 Series?
Design leaks indicate that Apple is crafting an ultra-thin smartphone, possibly named the iPhone 17 Air, mirroring the naming of its lightweight laptops. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, often a reliable source for early Apple news, reported in January that the iPhone 17 Air would feature a basic A19 chip and a single camera lens. It may also include Apple’s new internal modem, first introduced in February with the iPhone 16e. More details are likely to emerge before September.
Each new series includes a standard model, but Apple is expected to also offer an iPhone 17 and an iPhone 17 Pro. Staying true to its “size matters” philosophy, Apple is likely to also release an iPhone Pro Max with an even larger screen and enhanced battery life. The iPhone 17 Air appears set to replace a potential iPhone 17 Plus. Given the surprisingly high price of the iPhone 16e introduced in February, a new budget model is unlikely to join the lineup.
What Changes to Expect in iOS 19?
Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech released a video in January hinting at a major redesign of the Camera app, foreshadowing significant changes to the operating system in the upcoming iPhone series. Bloomberg also confirmed in March that an iOS overhaul is underway. It has been several generations since Apple made major changes to its OS, and it will be intriguing to see how the brand pushes the boundaries of its software once again.
While no formal details have been disclosed, it seems almost certain that Apple will continue to evolve its Apple Intelligence suite. Updates to Siri, expected to leverage AI tools, are still anticipated. Ideally, these updates will be fully finalized and integrated by the time the Series 17 arrives.
Apple typically shares more about its software plans at its Worldwide Developers Conference. The WWDC 2025 is expected to take place in early June, so we should learn more about the operating system this summer.
