Motorola Adopts Perplexity AI Voice Assistant for Razr
According to Bloomberg, the agreement with Motorola includes preloading Perplexity’s AI assistant on the new foldable Razr phones, set to be announced on April 24. Previously, Motorola utilized Google’s Gemini AI assistant but has planned a customized user interface for Perplexity and intends to highlight it in marketing campaigns. Motorola also continues to develop its own AI system in-house, alongside access to Google’s Gemini.
Perplexity AI in Discussions with Samsung Electronics
Discussions with Samsung are still at an early stage, but Bloomberg reports that the smartphone giant has been building a relationship with the U.S.-based Perplexity for several months. Samsung also maintains an existing partnership with Google for the Gemini models in its devices, including the flagship Galaxy S25 line.
The partnership with Samsung could involve offering Perplexity’s AI assistant as a default or preloaded option on devices. It might also include promoting the assistant within Google’s Galaxy app store. Samsung had previously supported Perplexity through its investment arm last year and is considering a further investment, according to Bloomberg.
Perplexity AI, a Promising Challenger in the Market
At the time of its first investment, Samsung Next highlighted that Perplexity’s user-centric approach and AI-driven capabilities position it as a “promising challenger against established players.” This budding partnership between Perplexity AI and these tech giants could well redefine the landscape of voice assistants.
