Chrome for iPhone has been updated with new features including Google Lens for advanced visual searches, direct saving to Google Drive and Photos, and "Shopping Insights" to enhance online shopping experiences.

Chrome for iPhone: Advanced New Features

Google’s Chrome browser for iPhone now includes features previously exclusive to Android. Users will gain access to Google Lens for enhanced visual searches and can directly save files and images to Google Drive and Google Photos. A new “Shopping Insights” feature will also be available for searched products.

Google Lens: More Accurate Visual Searches

With Google Lens integrated, Chrome for iOS now allows adding text to your visual searches, refining queries or conducting more detailed and specific searches. To activate Google Lens, simply click the camera icon in the Chrome search bar, then ask questions about your photo subject to get corresponding results. Google notes that “AI previews” will also appear for some search results.

Direct Save to Google Drive and Google Photos

A significant update in Chrome for iPhone is the ability to directly save a file to Google Drive or a photo to Google Photos, helping conserve the phone’s internal storage. When saving files from Chrome, a new option allows you to save directly to Drive. Similarly, to save a photo, perform a long press to see a new option “Save to Google Photos” in the contextual menu.

Shopping Insights: For Smart Purchases

Lastly, Google introduces a Shopping Insights feature for U.S. users, aimed at helping find the best prices for items they search for. This feature triggers a “Good Deal Now” alert in the Chrome address bar when searching for eligible products. By clicking on it, users can view details like price history and purchasing options.
