Android 16 Set to Unveil Major Multitasking Upgrade Surpassing iPhone

Android 16 is set to receive a significant multitasking upgrade, expected to outperform the iPhone's capabilities.
A New Era of Multitasking with Android 16
The tech world eagerly awaits the next Android update, which promises to transform how we multitask on our devices. Recent code analyses reveal that a new multitasking tool is in the works for Android 16.
What is “Bubble Anything”?
The upcoming feature, dubbed “Bubble Anything,” builds on the bubble API introduced with Android 11 in 2020. Initially designed to turn messaging apps into floating windows that overlay other apps for quick responses, the tool was limited to chat applications and not universally supported.
However, “Bubble Anything” could enable any Android application to be “bubbled,” streamlining the process of switching between apps. Essentially, users could add a bubble through the contextual menu that appears after long-pressing an app icon, opening the app in a floating window.
More Features in the Pipeline
But there’s more. Journalist Mishaal Rahman has also uncovered code for a “bubble bar” feature, which would group multiple “bubbled” apps in a single container. Another potential feature, “bubble storage,” would push app bubbles to the edge of the screen, allowing for swift access.
Rahman believes these features would be especially effective on top Android tablets due to their larger screens. Yet, the ability to “bubble” any app and store these bubbles in an easily accessible navigation bar could also significantly benefit top Android phones.
An Anticipated Update
It’s important to note that these findings are based on code analysis and do not guarantee implementation. However, they provide an intriguing glimpse into what Google may be planning for the Android operating system. With the release of Android 16 not expected until 2025, anticipation for these major enhancements is already mounting.
