Anthropic's new Claude model can now think both quickly and slowly, providing impressive and versatile cognitive performance.

Anthropic Unveils Claude 3.7 Sonnet, Its Latest AI Model

Anthropic, a leading AI enterprise, introduced a new AI model named Claude 3.7 Sonnet this week, touted as the market’s first “hybrid reasoning model”. This innovation allows Claude to either deliver near-instantaneous responses or process inquiries step-by-step, based on user preference.

A Unified Approach to Reasoning

“We developed Claude 3.7 Sonnet with a philosophy distinct from other reasoning models on the market. Just as humans use a single brain for both quick answers and deep thought, we believe reasoning should be an integrated ability in cutting-edge models rather than a separate one,” Anthropic states. This unified approach aims to provide a smoother experience for users.

A Jab at OpenAI

Anthropic appears to directly target its competitor OpenAI, which offers a variety of AI models. Sam Altman, OpenAI’s president, recently expressed a desire to achieve a “magical unified intelligence”, a statement that has stirred reactions within the AI community.

A Tool for Developers

Additionally, Anthropic has announced the launch of Claude Code, a new “agentic” tool that enables developers to delegate coding tasks directly to Claude. Currently in the research phase, Claude Code can read and modify code, write and execute tests, and even push commits on GitHub.

Together, Claude 3.7 Sonnet and Claude Code mark a significant advancement in AI evolution, reaffirming the technology’s role in transforming our work and life.
