Apple iOS 18.2 Adds Genmoji, Visual Intelligence, and ChatGPT with Siri

In addition to Image Playground, we also offer a variety of writing tools.
Apple Intelligence: The New Era of Artificial Intelligence
Since its initial announcement at this year’s WWDC, Apple Intelligence has made steady, thoughtful progress. This commitment recently culminated in the release of developer beta versions for iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia.
Innovative Tools for an Enhanced User Experience
The updates in iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia (15.2) include highly anticipated features such as Genmoji, Image Playground, Visual Intelligence, and ChatGPT integration. These updates also introduce the Image Wand tool for iPads and additional writing tools. Importantly, the stable version of iOS 18.1, set to be released to the public next week, will feature writing tools, notification summaries, and Apple’s hearing test.
This marks the first opportunity for non-beta software users to experience Apple Intelligence, a key feature in the brand’s new devices, such as the iPhone 16 series which was specifically designed for Apple Intelligence, though these features were not available at launch.
A World of Possibilities with Genmoji and Image Playground
Today’s update introduces Genmoji, allowing users to create custom emojis directly from their keyboard. Apple Intelligence also offers a Genmoji API, enabling third-party messaging apps to read and render Genmoji.
Furthermore, previously announced features such as Image Playground and Image Wand are available starting today. Image Playground, whether as a standalone app or through Messages, swiftly generates suggestions based on your conversations. Meanwhile, Image Wand is an update to the Apple Pencil toolset that helps refine your sketches into more polished artworks.
Visual Intelligence and ChatGPT Integration
Apple is also introducing ChatGPT integration in Siri and writing tools. This integration opens up new possibilities such as generating a route, workout program, or even a meal plan without needing a ChatGPT account.
If you own an iPhone 16 or 16 Pro and are using the developer beta, you can now try out Visual Intelligence. This feature allows you to point your camera at objects around you and get answers to questions, from math problems in your textbook to a menu at a restaurant you pass on your journey.
