Apple Releases Guide on Installing New AirPods Firmware Updates – Learn How

Apple has released a detailed guide to assist with installing the latest firmware updates for your AirPods, ensuring a smooth update process.
Apple Simplifies AirPods Firmware Updates
Apple enthusiasts are familiar with the necessity of periodic firmware updates for devices like AirPods headphones. While these updates usually install automatically, Apple has now provided detailed instructions for manual updates.
How to Manually Update?
Users can access these instructions on the newly updated AirPods support page. Previously, Apple explained that firmware updates occur automatically when AirPods are charging and within Bluetooth range of an iPhone, iPad, or Mac connected to Wi-Fi.
Steps for Manual Update
To manually update, start by ensuring your AirPods are within Bluetooth range of your connected iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Place the AirPods in their charging case, connect the charging cable, and wait at least 30 minutes. Finally, reopen the case to reconnect the AirPods and verify the firmware version.
Not for Every Update
It’s important to note that not every firmware update requires this manual process. Automatic updates will still proceed in the background as usual. However, this option is beneficial if automatic updates fail.
The support page also includes troubleshooting tips if the AirPods do not update, including how to reset them. Additionally, for AirPods Max owners, there are slightly different instructions available for firmware updates.
