Apple TV Finally Arrives on Android: Everything You Need to Know

Apple TV has finally launched on Android after a long wait. Here's everything you need to know about it.
Apple TV Debuts on Android
Android users, rejoice: the Apple TV app is now available on your platform. Starting today at 3 PM ET (February 12), you can download the Apple TV app on your Android phone or tablet, ending months of speculation since last May about Apple TV Plus’s arrival on Android.
Broad Range of Accessible Content
With its launch, you can now watch “Severance” season 2 on your Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, or catch the upcoming season 5 of “Slow Horses” later this year. Additionally, the app allows you to download episodes and movies to watch offline.
Furthermore, the app provides access to MLS Season Pass, Sunday Night Soccer, and Friday Night Baseball directly from your Android device. Viewed content will sync across your devices, and the Android version of the Apple TV app includes features like “Continue Watching,” “Watchlist,” and more.
Seven-Day Free Trial
If you’re curious about Apple TV Plus, don’t hesitate to download the Apple TV app on your Android phone or tablet and sign up for a seven-day free trial. There are no additional charges for signing up through the Google Play Store, and the subscription fee remains the same: $9.99 per month.
Some Notable Shortcomings
However, the Android app does have some shortcomings compared to the iOS version. Notably, it lacks access to iTunes content and notifications for your favorite MLS team matches. Most significantly, it does not support casting from your phone with the Android Apple TV app. Despite these issues, the app is still very promising and offers a wide array of content for Android users.
