Apple Vision Pro 2 and Smart Glasses Set to Launch Next Year

Apple might launch the Vision Pro 2 next year, and they are also reportedly preparing to introduce smart glasses.
Apple’s Vision Pro Successor on the Horizon
In spite of a lukewarm reception, Apple is not giving up and plans to introduce the Apple Vision Pro 2. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests the new mixed reality headset may feature the yet-to-be-announced M5 chip and could hit the market next year.
Delay for the More Affordable Model
An economical version of the headset, currently named Vision Pro SE, was also on the cards but has now been postponed to a release beyond 2027. This delay was confirmed by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who added that the upcoming Vision Pro will also receive a chip upgrade.
A Pricey Yet Impressive Product
Despite its hefty €3990 price tag, the original Vision Pro was described as “impressive, immersive and costly” by Mark Spoonauer, Editor-in-Chief at Begeek.fr Global. However, its high cost led to numerous returns during Apple’s 14-day return period, with many customers deeming the investment too significant for a product not yet widely adopted.
Considering Smart Glasses
Despite these hurdles, Apple is considering expanding its visionOS lineup to include smart glasses that would connect to a user’s iPhone, handling all computations on the phone to make the glasses lighter and more compact, a concept akin to the Xreal Air 2 Pro. These glasses could be positioned as an accessory rather than a standalone expensive device, a strategy that has proven successful with the Apple Watch.
It remains to be seen whether these glasses will materialize soon or if Apple will stick to Kuo’s prediction of a Vision Pro 2 release in 2025. Thus, patience is advised over the next 12 months.
