The Apple Vision Pro 2, a lighter and more affordable headset, appears appealing at first glance. However, consider carefully the reasons why it might not be the best choice before purchasing.

The Next Generation of Vision Pro

The release of the Apple Vision Pro was far from smooth. This high-tech device has caused issues ranging from headaches and neck pain to financial strain for its users.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is addressing these issues. The company is reportedly developing a new version of Vision Pro aimed at resolving the major problems identified in the initial model.

Expected Improvements

Initially, Apple intended to roll out a “more basic update” that would retain the original design of the Vision Pro and simply upgrade its internal chip. However, these plans have significantly shifted. “Gurman reports of a lighter, more affordable next-generation headset”, which contradicts earlier claims of a delayed project.

Here are some suggestions for Apple:

Change the materials: While the aluminum frame and glass optics are visually impressive, they significantly increase the device’s weight.Improve weight distribution: Currently, the head strap is essential to alleviate the weight on the user’s nose. It would be wise to rearrange some computational components to the headband.Incorporate the battery at the back: Although it adds weight, it would balance the front-heavy design.

A Step Towards AR Glasses

However, Tim Cook’s ultimate goal is not Vision Pro 2, but augmented reality (AR) glasses that could revolutionize the industry. Apple envisions “lightweight glasses that customers could wear all day”, featuring augmented reality elements that “overlay data and images onto real-world views”.

The next frontier for VR and AR involves merging the computational power of a VR headset into a sleek pair of glasses. The race towards this innovation is thrilling, and Apple’s involvement could significantly influence the market.
