Ballie: Samsung’s AI-Powered Robot Aims to Transform Daily Life

Starting in the summer of 2024, Samsung's new intelligent companion, Ballie, will use Google AI to manage your home, offer advice, and streamline your daily life.
A Tiny Robot Named Ballie
Samsung’s star product for Summer 2024 is an endearing little robot called Ballie, unveiled at CES 2020. The South Korean company has announced that sales will kick off this summer, targeting markets in the USA and South Korea.
Google Gemini Onboard
The highlight of Ballie is its integration with Google’s AI, Gemini. In collaboration with Google Cloud, this AI model enables Ballie to process various types of data: voice, audio, and visual. While Samsung hasn’t specified the exact system powering Ballie, it boasts multimodal capabilities, blending the company’s own technology with Gemini AI.
A Multitude of Services Offered
Ballie is more than just a showpiece. Equipped with sensors, it could serve as your personal assistant, managing your smart home devices. After all, “Why not let a small robot manage your home?” some tech enthusiasts might say.
But that’s not all. Samsung also claims that Ballie can provide health and style advice. Odd, perhaps, but one might think, “Why not? If a robot can offer sensible advice”.
The pricing for Ballie has not been disclosed yet. With the instability of tariff policies, particularly due to recent tariffs introduced by the Trump administration, Samsung is unable to provide an exact price at this time. However, after much anticipation since Ballie’s first demo in 2020 and its delayed release to 2024, we are eager to see this little robot hit the shelves.
