A Major Step Forward for Bixby

Persistent rumors suggest that Samsung is gearing up for a substantial AI update for Bixby that could parallel advanced systems such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini, rather than merely competing with Alexa or Google Assistant. According to a recent ET News report, this major AI upgrade is expected to roll out alongside the Samsung Galaxy S25 early next year.
Support from a LLM Model
Samsung has reportedly integrated a Large Language Model (LLM) support for Bixby, which has already been quietly launched in China on the Galaxy Tab S10. The update was initially planned for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, but scheduling issues caused a delay. This LLM support is anticipated to enhance Bixby’s capabilities, making it more conversational and capable of delivering superior responses.
A Daunting Task
Despite these advancements, it remains to be seen whether these improvements will attract more users to Bixby. Samsung has struggled to redefine Bixby’s image from merely being seen as unnecessary pre-installed software, even with aggressive promotion. With stiff competition in the AI market, especially from Google Gemini which is compatible with Samsung products, the challenge is formidable.
However, renowned leaker Ice Universe believes that the revamped Bixby will be “the biggest selling point” for the Galaxy S25. All eyes are now on the upcoming Galaxy S25 launch to see what unfolds. The next Galaxy Unpacked event is scheduled for January 23, where we will get a first official glimpse of the Galaxy S25 and the final version of One UI 7, Samsung’s iteration of Android 15.
