Discover BYD’s Charging Revolution: 400 km in Just 5 Minutes

Chinese manufacturer BYD has unveiled a 1,000 kW charging technology that halves the charging time compared to Tesla, potentially revolutionizing the adoption of electric vehicles.
BYD Leads with Groundbreaking Ultra-Fast Charging Technology
Chinese automotive giant BYD has unveiled a groundbreaking technology for charging electric vehicles at unprecedented speeds. BYD founder Wang Chuanfu revealed that their new “super e-platform” achieves a maximum charging speed of 1,000 kilowatts, doubling the speed currently offered by Tesla’s superchargers.
Lightning-Fast Charge for Exceptional Range
This innovative technology enables a vehicle to travel 400 kilometers with just “five minutes of charging” at a BYD station. The first models to feature this charging architecture will be BYD’s Han L sedan and Tang L SUV. Deploying stations equipped with this technology across the network will take time.
Goal: Eliminate Charging Anxiety
“To completely resolve the charging anxiety of our users, our goal is to make the charging time for electric vehicles as short as refueling gasoline vehicles,” stated Wang. To achieve this, BYD plans to build 4,000 ultra-fast charging units throughout China, marking the technology’s debut for Chinese drivers.
BYD: A Formidable Competitor for Tesla
BYD continues to strengthen its position in the global electric vehicle market. Indeed, the delivery figures for the second quarter of last year saw a 21% increase, drawing closer to Tesla’s numbers.
