Discover How Apple Plans to Revolutionize Caller ID to Eliminate Spam Calls

Apple has just announced a significant iPhone update designed to help users differentiate legitimate businesses from spam.
Apple Introduces New Way to Identify Calls
The familiar ring of your mobile phone in 2024 often leads to the sight of an unknown number. Many of us have become accustomed to ignoring these calls or sending them straight to voicemail, assuming they are spam, robocalls, or other unwanted nuisances.
In response to this ongoing issue, Apple has announced new plans to make it easier to identify incoming calls from legitimate businesses, helping you quickly decide if the caller is someone or a business you actually wish to speak with.
What is Apple Business Connect?
Launched last year, Apple Business Connect is a service that allows businesses of all sizes to manage how they appear within Apple’s ecosystem. This includes business cards in the Maps app, support in Tap to Pay, and much more. If you’re not a business owner, you might not have encountered Business Connect, but you’ve seen its benefits when searching for a business in Maps, making a payment with Wallet, or looking up information about a shop or restaurant using Siri.
Business Caller IDs Coming in 2025
On October 16th, Apple announced the addition of new tools to Business Connect. One notable upcoming feature, set for release in 2025, will allow businesses to register a professional call ID through Business Connect. This ID will display the business name, logo, and even a specific department during incoming calls on your iPhone, helping recipients recognize legitimate businesses as opposed to dubious operators offering interest-free homes or luxury vacations.
Additional Features to Business Connect
Apple has revealed more immediate additions to Business Connect. For instance, a branded email feature will function similarly to the business call ID, allowing companies to display their name and logo in emails that land in the Mail app. Moreover, Tap to Pay will now allow businesses to show their logo instead of a generic category icon when customers make payments through their iPhones at payment terminals, providing visual assurance that they are purchasing from a legitimate business.
Other enhancements to Business Connect mainly involve backend changes on how businesses utilize the service through Apple’s web portal. However, from a consumer perspective, no change is more significant than the one that will soon help us better manage incoming calls, distinguishing real from fake.
