2025’s Safest Airlines Ranked by AirlineRatings.com
AirlineRatings.com, the renowned rating platform, has released its much-anticipated list of the top 25 safest global airlines.
The ranking, derived from a detailed analysis of 385 airlines, considers various factors such as fleet age, pilot skills and training, incident rates, and serious events from the past two years.
A Predictable Podium
This year’s results are largely consistent with last year’s, with Air New Zealand holding onto the top spot, closely followed by Qantas. “The competition was tight, with just a 1.50 point difference,” stated Sharon Petersen, CEO of AirlineRatings.com. “Despite both airlines adhering to stringent safety standards, Air New Zealand edges ahead with its younger fleet.”
Third place was a tie among Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways, and Emirates, evaluated on fleet age, pilot expertise, safety practices, fleet size, and incident history.
Noteworthy Changes in the Rankings
The rest of the top 10 includes Virgin Australia, Etihad, All Nippon Airways, EVA Air, Korean Air, and Turkish Airlines. New entries this year are Iberia and Vietnam Airlines, replacing Singapore Airlines and KLM due to recent incidents.
Low-Cost Carrier Rankings
Among budget airlines, Hong Kong Express leads the pack, followed by Jetstar Group and Ryanair. Returning to the rankings after missing out in 2024, Hong Kong Express has excelled with a spotless safety record and no serious incidents.
