Coros smartwatches have just been upgraded with a significant free software update, introducing impressive new features that greatly enhance user experience.

Coros Watches: An Update for Enhanced User Experience

Coros, a renowned sports watch manufacturer, has just upgraded its products’ performance with a free software update available via the Coros app, offering users several significant enhancements.

While these updates don’t revolutionize the use of the watches, they do provide notable improvements in daily use. As a Coros Pace Pro user for my running sessions, these enhancements have already made my life easier.

Additional Features for Customized Tracking

The update introduces the ability to name paired external sensors, such as heart rate straps, and to change temperature units independently of your general unit preferences. This is particularly useful for those who, like me, track their runs in miles but prefer Celsius for temperature readings.

The following models are updated:

  • Coros Pace 3
  • Coros Pace Pro
  • Coros Apex 2
  • Coros Apex 2 Pro
  • Coros Vertix 2
  • Coros Vertix 2S
  • Coros Dura

Older models, such as the Coros Pace 2, do not receive these new features. It took me about 10 minutes to install the update on my Pace Pro.

Concrete Improvements for Optimized Use

If you connect external sensors to your Coros device, such as heart rate monitors or cycling power sensors, you can now name them on the watch for easier identification. Additionally, you will receive an alert when a sensor’s battery is low. Naming a sensor is handy if you pair several different ones to your watch. Alerts are valuable as most external sensors have a battery life of several weeks or months, making it helpful to be reminded when to change or recharge them.

An interesting new feature allows you to choose temperature display in Fahrenheit or Celsius, independent of the units used on the watch. As a Brit, I find this update particularly beneficial since Fahrenheit temperatures are less familiar to me.

More Accurate and Flexible Activity Tracking

You can now display turn-by-turn navigation instructions as a data field during your activities, keeping the next instruction on screen rather than showing it only at the turn. This small update is handy for staying on track.

If you realize you’ve used the wrong sport mode for an activity after pressing “save,” you can now change it to the correct mode in the Coros app. This change is currently only possible for similar activities, including running, walking, and cycling. Lastly, if you accidentally delete an activity in the Coros app, you can find it in the “recently deleted” section of the activities page and recover it to count towards your fitness statistics. This option is only available for activities deleted within the last 30 days.
