Last week’s AI Action Summit in Paris marked a pivotal moment as the European Union deep-dived into the rapidly growing field of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The EU announced a hefty investment of 200 billion euros in AI development, with 20 billion euros earmarked for creating gigafactories to process and train large AI models.
InvestAI: A Bold Vision for AI in Europe
During the summit, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen unveiled the plan named InvestAI. She emphasized that Europe is not lagging behind in the AI race against China and the US.
According to her, Europe is poised to lead in specific industrial applications and harness AI’s power for productivity and individual benefits.
France: A Key Player in Europe’s AI Ecosystem
Simultaneously, France revealed that private investments totaling 109 billion euros would boost its AI ecosystem. Additionally, the country will provide a gigawatt of nuclear energy for a computing AI project by FluidStack, which will utilize Nvidia-manufactured chips.
AI Thriving in the US and China
In the US, OpenAI and SoftBank have launched a staggering 500 billion dollar partnership to develop AI infrastructure.
Meanwhile, China’s AI assistant DeepSeek has made a notable global debut, offering performance comparable to rivals at a significantly lower construction cost.
