France and UK Propose One-Month Truce
French President Emmanuel Macron and British allies have suggested a one-month truce between Russia and Ukraine, focusing on air, sea, and energy infrastructure, Macron told Le Figaro.
European Leaders Gather in London
Hosted by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the London meeting included Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and around fifteen European leaders, alongside the NATO Secretary General and the Canadian Prime Minister. The assembly reinforced unity and support for Ukraine.
Drafting a Peace Plan for Ukraine
Following discussions, a peace plan for Ukraine was proposed, set to be presented to the United States. Macron clarified that the Franco-British proposal does not currently include deploying ground troops.
Backing an Increase in European Defense Spending
Macron advocated for higher defense spending by Europeans, pointing out Russia’s 10% GDP expenditure on defense. “We need to prepare for the future, aiming for around 3% to 3.5%”, he stated.
