Everything You Need to Know About the Apple M4 Chip

Apple is set to revolutionize the tech world again with the upcoming launch of its M4 processor, the successor to the highly efficient M3. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman suggests the new chip could be unveiled as early as November 1, introducing a new range of Macs from MacBook Pro to iMacs and Mac mini.
Apple’s New M4 Chip
Big Apple is set to shake up the tech world again. The brand’s M3 processor, currently leading in performance and battery life charts, will soon be surpassed by its successor, the M4.
Rumors and Leaks
Renowned Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman recently revealed that Apple is gearing up to launch the new M4. “The clearest signals yet that M4 Macs are right around the corner—a purported launch date of November 1st and a leaked unboxing video of the MacBook Pro M4”, he stated. However, as with any rumor or leak, caution is advised.
A New Wave of Macs
According to Gurman, the first wave of M4 Macs will hit on November 1st. Expected models include iMacs, 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros, and Mac minis, all equipped with the new M4 chip. Later in 2025, Apple plans to roll out new MacBook Air M4s, followed by the M4 Mac Studio and Mac Pro.
The Various Flavors of the M4
The M4 will come in three main versions: the entry-level Donan, the more powerful Brava models, and the high-end Hidra chip. Apple intends to highlight the AI processing capabilities of the new chips and their integration with the next version of macOS. The Donan will power entry-level MacBook Pros, the new MacBook Air, and a lower-end Mac mini. The Brava chips will run the high-end MacBook Pros and a pricier Mac mini model. The top-tier Apple desktop, the Mac Pro, will be equipped with the robust Hidra chip.
And What About AI?
Since their inception, Apple’s M-series chips have incorporated a neural engine. With the current surge in AI-based PCs, it’s no surprise that Apple is keen to promote the AI capabilities of the M series. Apple plans to introduce new AI features across its products, Gurman stated.
