Explore the Latest Features in the Newly Released iOS 18.3 Beta

The latest beta version of iOS 18.3 has just been released, offering a glimpse into the updates and new features it introduces.
iOS 18.3 Beta: A Promising First Look
The latest beta release of iOS 18.3 is now public, showcasing new features in the update. While less dramatic than its predecessor, iOS 18.2, it still introduces significant changes.
Notable Changes in Notification Summaries
Apple has faced criticism over how its Notification Summaries feature processes information, sometimes generating false data amid rising misinformation concerns. In response, iOS 18.3 has made adjustments.
The first change disables news summaries for apps in the News and Entertainment category until Apple resolves the issue. Furthermore, the Notification Summaries section in Settings will now clearly label this feature as beta, warning that errors may occur. Additionally, the setup process will prompt users to “verify important information” as “summaries may alter the meaning of original headlines”.
Enhancements in User Interface and Existing Features
iPhone 16 owners will notice a minor change in the Camera Control section of the Settings app, where the AE/AF button has been renamed to “Lock Focus and Exposure” to clarify its function for casual users.
Additionally, Genmoji, a feature for creating custom emojis using generative AI, has been added to Messages, offering a fresh way to craft unique emojis. Also, anyone editing a PDF through the screenshot interface will now receive a warning when attempting to crop content. This warning clarifies that cropping does not actually delete data and that some PDF readers might still display the cropped content.
An Anticipated Update
This beta version of iOS 18.3, open to all enrolled in Apple’s beta program, brings notable and awaited changes. The release date for the final version remains undisclosed, with Apple typically keeping such details under wraps. Hopefully, the wait won’t be too long.
