Film Studios Rake in Huge Profits Using AI on YouTube

Movie studios are making significant profits by producing low-quality content through artificial intelligence and distributing it on YouTube.
A Surge of Fake Movie Trailers on YouTube
YouTube regulars may have noticed a surge in fake movie trailers created by artificial intelligence (AI) in recent years. This trend is not just a harmless phenomenon but part of a scheme that benefits major Hollywood studios, as reported by Deadline.
A Deal Between YouTube and Film Studios
Instead of enforcing copyright laws on these videos, film studios have struck a deal with YouTube. This agreement ensures that studios, not the individuals who merely provide instructions and edit these videos, receive the ad revenues. One such video includes a fake trailer for an upcoming Superman reboot, which even deceived French national television.
Film Brands Diluted by AI-Generated Content
The question arises: why would major film studios allow their brands to be diluted by AI-generated nonsense? These fake trailers exist alongside official trailers and have been proven to confuse viewers. They have amassed billions of views, which appears to be enough for these shortsighted companies. For the actors’ union SAG-AFTRA, this represents a true “race to the bottom.”
The End of a Financial Windfall
However, this financial windfall seems to have reached its peak. YouTube has turned off monetization for these types of videos, likely following the report by Deadline. As a result, popular channels that distributed such content, like Screen Culture, have been removed from YouTube’s partnership program. Now, no one can financially benefit from broadcasting these videos.
Despite this decision, channels can appeal. The founder of KH Studio, which has garnered hundreds of millions of views, stated that their intention was never to deceive viewers. Their goal was simply to create “what if” scenarios.
