Fortnite to Time Travel Again on December 6

Epic Games is bringing Fortnite back to its origins by relaunching the original 2017 version of the game, complete with the original map and simplified mechanics, starting December 6 for a nostalgic experience.
Fortnite: Back to Basics
The massively popular battle royale game, Fortnite, has heralded the return of its original version. This nostalgic revival, which saw a record-breaking attendance of 44.7 million in October 2023, was confirmed last Tuesday by Epic Games. They announced that the journey back to the original Fortnite is here to stay.
A Game, Just Like the Good Old Days
The original game will reintroduce players to the initial map, the original loot system, and the seasons as they were in 2017. Beyond the nostalgic appeal, many players appreciate the simpler gaming mechanics of the era: less complex gameplay, streamlined map designs, and more basic weapons and items—before the expansive updates that brought new game modes (it was solely Battle Royale back then) and vehicles like cars, boats, and helicopters.
Calling All Fans
Fans of the classic version won’t have to wait long. This original version will make its comeback on December 6.
A Success That Inspires
The successful revival of Fortnite‘s roots has set a trend in the gaming industry. For instance, Blizzard has taken a leaf out of Epic Games’ book and relaunched Overwatch in its original form during a three-week event starting today.
