Gemini Now Offers Free Screen Sharing and Live Video on Android

Here's how to enjoy free live streaming and screen sharing with Gemini on Android.
Google Now Offers Free Access to Gemini Live
Google has just made one of its most popular artificial intelligence features, Gemini Live, available for free. Previously exclusive to paying subscribers of Gemini Advanced, it is now accessible to all Android users without a subscription.
What is Gemini Live?
Gemini Live allows users to share their smartphone screen or camera in real-time with the Google Assistant. Wherever you are, you can get assistance based on what you see or do. Powered by Google’s next-generation Astra model, Gemini Live engages in human-like conversations, offering an experience closer to a real assistant rather than a simple chatbot interaction.
For instance, pointing your camera at a plant could prompt the assistant to identify it for you. Similarly, sharing your screen during online shopping could trigger product comparisons or provide additional information. The camera allows the assistant to interpret what’s in view, and the screen sharing function enables it to react to what’s happening on the device in real time.
How to Use Gemini Live?
To try it, simply open the Gemini app on your Android phone. You will see a new “Share Screen with Live” button – tap it to start sharing your screen. If you prefer using the camera, switch to full-screen Gemini Live mode and tap the camera icon to begin streaming. While active, a notification bar indicator will inform you that the session is ongoing. You can stop sharing at any time by pressing on the notification panel.
Outlook
The rollout of Gemini Live to all Android users appears to be part of a broader Google initiative to more deeply integrate AI into its mobile ecosystem. By eliminating the subscription requirement, this feature becomes more widely accessible, enabling users to interact with the assistant using the visual context of their camera or screen. As AI tools expand beyond text-based input, features like this suggest a shift towards more tangible, real-world applications. The update will be gradually deployed through the Gemini app in the coming weeks.
