Google Chrome Rolls Out Major AI Upgrade to Shield You from Scams

Google Chrome has recently rolled out a significant AI-based update aimed at enhancing your protection against online scams.
Google Advances Further in Enhancing Your Browsing Security
Following its recent announcement on using AI to block spam and dangerous emails, Google is now set to expand this technology to its Chrome browser.
AI-Powered Fraudulent Site Detection
According to BleepingComputer, a new Chrome feature named “Client Side Detection Brand and Intent for Scam Detection” was discovered by Leopeva64. Like the latest Gmail update, this feature utilizes a large language model to analyze potential threats.
However, this time, the focus is not on emails but on web pages you access on your devices. It examines the brands and intentions of pages you visit while navigating various websites.
Real-Time Protection
This feature powers a scam detection service that recognizes the brand and purpose of each page you visit online, facilitating easier identification of potentially fraudulent sites.
Google has yet to release specific details on how this feature operates or how to activate it. However, it is expected to be available next year on platforms including Mac, Windows, and Linux.
A Tool Under Testing
This tool is currently being tested in Chrome Canary and may be linked to Google’s existing Enhanced Protection feature, which has been using AI to provide real-time protection against dangerous sites, downloads, and extensions since November this year.
With online security more crucial than ever—recall the 5 million Americans who had their credit card details leaked online or the massive attack that stole millions from LastPass users—this new feature strengthens Google’s role as a guardian of our internet safety.
