Google Integrates AP’s Real-Time Information into Gemini

Google is partnering with The Associated Press to deliver real-time information on the Gemini platform.
A Groundbreaking Partnership Between Google and The Associated Press
A promising alliance has emerged between Google and The Associated Press (AP). On Wednesday, the tech giant from Mountain View announced a deal to incorporate AP’s real-time news into its Gemini app. However, the financial terms of the agreement remain confidential.
Advancing Real-Time Information
This deal marks an extension of an existing partnership between Google and AP to provide real-time information to its search engine. According to Google, this new arrangement will be “particularly beneficial” for users of the Gemini app seeking up-to-the-minute news.
A Long-Standing Relationship Focused on Information Accuracy
Kristin Heitmann, AP’s Senior Vice President and Director of Revenue, highlighted the longstanding relationship between Google and AP, built on their shared commitment to delivering precise and timely information to a global audience. “We are pleased that Google recognizes the value of AP’s journalism and our dedication to unbiased reporting in the development of their generative AI products,” she stated.
A Choice Among Others for Google and OpenAI
The Associated Press joins a lengthy list of news publishers that have partnered with Google or OpenAI to supply data for training models and consumer-oriented features. Recently, Axios announced a three-year deal with OpenAI, which will fund four new local newsrooms. Last year, OpenAI finalized a deal with People publisher Dotdash Meredith, later revealed to be worth at least $16 million annually.
