Google Pixels Now Offer Real-Time Temperature Tracking
Google Pixel devices have just been upgraded to monitor their temperature in real-time, marking a significant technological advancement for these smartphones.
Google Adds Temperature Monitoring to Pixel Phones
Google has introduced an update that integrates a temperature monitoring feature directly into Pixel phones, a functionality previously only available through third-party apps.
How to Access This Feature
Post-update, users can access this new feature via Settings > Battery > Battery Diagnostics > Phone is very hot. Alternatively, typing “Device Temperature” in the settings app’s search bar will also lead to this feature.
Real-Time Updates and Practical Tips
The feature provides real-time updates using color-coded labels: cold, normal, hot, and high. Depending on the phone’s temperature, it displays relevant messages and suggestions to either cool down or warm up the Pixel phone. Google notes that “the device temperature is estimated based on multiple internal sensors.”
Temperature Monitoring: Essential for Phone Longevity
Extreme temperatures can be hazardous to phones, potentially causing severe damage. For instance, a recent update led to older Samsung models displaying a green line issue. Google’s new feature aims to help users prevent their devices from overheating. It’s important to note that while this update is not available on the Pixel tablet, it has been confirmed for Pixel 6 and later models, including the Pixel Fold, Pixel 8a, and Pixel 9 Pro running on Android 15.
