Grok Launches New X-Based App for iPhone

The communication revolution is underway: Grok, a chatbot developed from Elon Musk's Project X, is set to captivate iPhone users with its dedicated app.
Grok Chatbot Takes Flight
The tech world is gearing up to welcome a new independent player to the chatbot arena. Developed by xAI, a company owned by renowned entrepreneur Elon Musk, Grok is set to spread its wings. Initially exclusive to X account holders, Grok is branching out with the launch of a dedicated iPhone app and its own website, grok.com.
New Strategy to Attract a Broader Audience
This move towards independence is paired with a more aggressive commercial strategy to compete with industry leaders like Gemini, ChatGPT, and Claude. The chatbot will now be freely accessible to all users, with no need for an X account. Grok will also feature enhanced integration on the platform, including new capabilities such as generating images from posts or correcting grammatical and spelling errors before publishing.
Significantly Improved Performance
Since its debut late last year, Grok has come a long way. Initially lagging behind models like Google’s Gemini, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and Anthropic’s Claude, the xAI team has tirelessly worked to narrow this gap. Grok’s textual and coding responses are now on par with top models, and the chatbot can even analyze and generate images. A comparative test against Google Gemini’s Imagen 3 showed Grok’s impressive realism.
Next Step: International Rollout
Currently, the Grok app is only available in Australia and a few other countries. However, following this initial testing phase, it is highly likely that Grok will soon be globally available. Once released, users will have access to all of Grok’s features on X, including real-time data from the web and the X platform. While not confirmed, it appears likely that users will be able to sign up for a Grok account using an X.com account or a Google login.
