The iPhone 15 Pro will feature Visual Intelligence through an update to iOS 18.4, providing a groundbreaking and unprecedented user experience.

Apple’s Visual Intelligence Feature Expands to Older iPhones

Previously exclusive to the iPhone 16 with camera control capabilities, Apple’s visual intelligence feature is set to roll out to earlier models. According to 9to5Mac, it will be one of several functions assignable to the Action Button in the second beta of iOS 18.4, hinting at its inclusion in the final update.

A Revolutionary Technology

This cutting-edge technology utilizes AI models from Google and OpenAI to retrieve information and even websites based on what the phone’s camera is pointed at. Users can also add event details from a poster to their calendar or identify dog breeds with this feature.

Enhanced Accessibility

Initially, this feature required a long press on the camera control of an iPhone 16. However, since the release of the iPhone 16e, Apple has enabled activation via the Action Button. Consequently, the iPhone 15 Pro, powered by the A17 Pro chip with ample RAM, is also expected to support this feature.

A Highly Anticipated Update

The iOS 18.4 update, currently in beta, is scheduled for early April. Besides broadening the range of phones compatible with visual intelligence, Apple plans to add a new recipes section to Apple News, titled Apple News+ Food. An update to Siri, enabling direct interaction with apps, was also anticipated in this update as per Bloomberg, but will be delayed.
