iPhone 17 Air Leak: Screen, Cameras, Processor Details and More Revealed

Details about the screen size, cameras, chip, and other features of the new iPhone 17 Air have been disclosed following an information leak.
The iPhone 17 Rumor Mill is Spinning
With the iPhone 16 launch now a fading memory, speculation about next year’s iPhone 17 series is already heating up. Despite the noisy backdrop of forecasters, it appears we are in for more of the same, possibly confirming leaks that have already surfaced.
Details on the iPhone 17 Air / Slim and Pro
Jeff Pu, an analyst at Haitong International, has released a research note, seen by Apple Insider, outlining the features of the iPhone 17 Air (or Slim) and potential specs for the iPhone 17 Pro models. His note seems to confirm earlier rumored details about the iPhone 17 lineup, albeit with some tweaks.
The iPhone 17 Air or Slim is expected to feature a 6.6-inch display, replacing the Plus model in the lineup. According to Pu, it will be powered by a 3nm A19 chip, akin to the A18 Pro chip in the iPhone 16 Pro. This appears to confirm that the anticipated 2nm chip will be “pushed to the iPhone 18,” as reported earlier this week.
Technical Features of the iPhone 17
Pu also reiterated that the Slim would have 8 GB of RAM, consistent with his previous notes from May. For a lighter feel, beyond being ultra-thin, Pu suggested that the Slim would feature an aluminum body, like the current Plus model.
Regarding cameras, he mentioned it would boast a single 48MP rear sensor and a 24MP front camera with integrated Face ID. Vaguely, the note is supposed to claim that the iPhone 17 Slim will have a “brand new design” but did not specify what that entails.
The iPhone 17 Pro Models
MacRumors, which also had access to Pu’s research note, highlighted different details, mainly about the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro models. In their report, Pu reiterated earlier claims that the Pro and Pro Max would feature a 48MP telephoto rear camera and a 24MP front camera. Currently, the Pro models offer 12MP versions of these cameras.
He expects the Pro models to finally make the jump to 12 GB of RAM, a speculation he had previously made in May. Lastly, he affirmed that Apple would not have separate chips and would continue to use the same A19 chip family across all iPhone 17 models, as is the case with the entire iPhone 16 range using the A18 chip.
It’s worth noting that although prolific, Pu has a somewhat mixed track record when it comes to predicting Apple’s future moves. However, his latest reports seem to align with similar rumors from more reliable sources like Mark Gurman and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
