Kia Introduces Voice-Activated AI in European Cars

Kia's intelligent voice assistant is launching in Europe, offering a more fluid, human-like conversational driving experience. It continuously improves through OTA updates.
A Revolution in Onboard Assistance at Kia
Having captivated Korea and the U.S., Kia’s brand new artificial intelligence voice assistant is now making its way into European vehicles. Through an “Over-the-Air” update, this system is becoming available to drivers across Europe, starting with the EV3, and soon to expand to other models equipped with the connected cockpit ccNC. This technological leap underscores Kia’s commitment to making natural vehicle conversation central to the driving experience.
Smoother and More Personalized Interactions
Gone are the days of limited or mechanical exchanges: simply press the dedicated button on the steering wheel or say “Hey Kia” to start a conversation with your vehicle. The AI assistant understands the context and intent of inquiries, providing relevant responses whether you need advice on using a feature or a playlist suggestion for a city trip.
You’re no longer confined to technical requests. For instance, you can ask, “What are some Italian restaurants nearby?” or inquire about Spanish customs before an important dinner. The more detailed the question, the more accurate the response—a truly distinguishing feature.
Continuous Updates and Expanding Features
What sets this innovation apart is its ability to continuously evolve through OTA updates. This dynamic is driven by:
Regularly added new features, enhancing the assistant’s capabilities.
Gradual adjustments to meet the specific needs of European drivers.
Opportunities to expand the general or technical knowledge accessible via voice command.
A driver could, for example, inquire about the detailed workings of the “Highway Driving Assistant” in traffic or request a simplified explanation of a scientific phenomenon for the children in the car.
Kia Confirms Its Technological Turn in Europe
It’s important to note: this European rollout is part of a global strategy that started in Korea in July 2024 and in the U.S. in November. By March 2025, all EV3s produced for the European market will standardly incorporate the AI voice assistant. Models already off the production line will also benefit from this advancement through a simple software update. This is set to profoundly change the way we interact with our vehicles and possibly redefine our everyday relationship with connected mobility.
